Living healthy on a budget can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether it’s chicken or fish, most Cai Peng stalls have their own variety of vegetables and meat to choose from, cooked in different sauces and styles. If you’re looking for a low carb option, Cai Peng stalls will usually allow you to order your food without rice. But in recent years, more and more stalls are introducing brown rice, which can be a low-GI alternative.
However, a downside about having Cai peng would be the amount of sauces added into your chosen ingredients. Think sweet and sour pork, sambal kang kong, or the vegetables with oil. While this can be a problem for weight watchers consuming their Cai Peng with rice, it’s less of a worry (in fact, I wouldn’t be worried at all) for those who opted for less rice or no rice. So if you’re looking to have the more gravy-heavy dishes, you can consider making a trade-off with your rice in exchange for flavor. At the end of the day, mindful and meaningful reduction in calories will help you lose weight.
